EPRA BC Electronics Recycling Options For The ICI Sector
Industrial, Commercial & Institutional (ICI) entities in British Columbia who have end of life electronics (EOLE) ready for recycling are known as ICI generators. The ICI generators have a number of options available through the EPRA BC program.
The recycling options below are funded through stewards reporting and remitting on new electronics as the obligated products are put on market. Brand owners, producers and retailers (stewards of EPRA) collect Environmental Handling Fees on obligated products from businesses and consumers at the time of purchase and remit those fees to the program to cover the cost of collection, transportation and recycling of EOLE.
EPRA BC Depots:
Summary: No cost for drop off at EPRA BC Depots.
Consumers and small businesses may return their EOLE to one of the more than 260 EPRA collection depots across BC at no cost and their EOLE will be responsibly recycled. To find your nearest depot visit: https://recyclemyelectronics.ca/bc/where-can-i-recycle/
EPRA BC Large Volume Generator (LVG) Program:
Summary: No cost to arrange for a large-volume pick up.
EPRA provides a direct pickup service for ICI generators with significant volumes of EOLE. Obligated devices must be palletized (3 pallet minimum) and the program will pick them up and recycle them through an RQO-approved processor at no cost to the generator. For more information visit:

EPRA BC ICI Recycling Program:
Summary: A) No Cost or B) Additional costs for value-added services.
In both cases, please register with EPRA BC and contract directly with an RQO approved Recycler
ICI generators may choose to work directly with an RQO approved recycler to arrange for transportation and recycling of their end-of-life electronics.
A) There is no cost to the ICI generator for this option if the EOLE is being picked up and processed by the Recycler. EPRA BC pays the recycler for collection, transportation and recycling of the EOLE. In this option, the ICI generator chooses one of the Recycler Qualification Office (RQO) approved recyclers and then applies through EPRA BC program manager for approval to directly provide the EOLE products to that recycler. Once approved, the ICI generator works directly with the approved recycler for the pickup and recycling of the end-of-life electronics.
B) The ICI generator may want additional, value added or “white glove” services such as data destruction. These extra services beyond collection, transportation and recycling would need to be negotiated between the ICI generator and the recycler and would not be paid by EPRA BC, hence the recycler may charge the ICI generator additional fees.
With either of these option, the recycler should not be charging the ICI generator for collection, transportation or processing, but may charge for the additional white-glove services requested by the ICI generator.
