Get a Jump Start on Spring Cleaning

Have you been trying to reclaim your space and make more room in your home and life? Now is a great time to get a head start on your spring cleaning.

A great way to begin decluttering our homes is by clearing out our old tech. Recycling those electronics is a great way to get back our space and help reduce our environmental impact. Involving our kids presents a great opportunity to start a conversation with our kids about the impact we can have on our shared future.

INVISIBLE E-CLUTTER

The most recent stats show that 80% of Canadians have unused electronics at home. Our electronics are filled with resources that can be recycled, recovered and reused. This reduces our overall carbon footprint while lessening our dependence on mining for new resources. It also diverts e-waste from landfill, where it can emit greenhouse gases like carbon dioxide and other harmful toxins. When it comes to recycling electronics, it’s truly what’s inside that counts. The great news is that we can unclutter our homes, while actually making a tangible difference for the environment.

INSPIRE YOUR KIDS

Gathering up our old electronics for recycling is a great opportunity to reinforce the conservation message with our kids. Involving them helps bring them into the discussion and is a great segue into talking about the environment and about resource recovery. It might even inspire them to get more involved with these activities outside of the home.

LOOK TO THE FUTURE

Once all your end-of-life electronics have been gathered up, store them in a safe place so they’re ready to be recycled when our lives get back to normal. We can even have our kids help take them to the nearest Recycle My Electronics drop-off location.

The Recycle My Electronics program has a network of over 2,500 drop-off locations throughout the country, including return-to-retail locations and special collection events.
