Environmental Handling Fee (EHF)

EPRA-Québec is funded through Environmental Handling Fees (EHF) that are applied on the cost of all new electronic products. It’s not a tax, nor is it a refundable deposit. The EHF on each item in the program is based on the actual cost to recycle the materials contained in the product. All program revenue is used for the collection, transportation and responsible recycling of end-of-life electronics as well as program administration.

The following EHFs are applicable on the cost of new electronic products regulated and marketed in Québec:

  • $16.75

    Display Devices 46" or Larger

  • $8.50

    Display Devices 30" – 45"

  • $5.50

    Display Devices 29" or Smaller

  • $1.10

    Non-Cellular Telephones and Answering Machines

  • $3.75

    Non-Portable Audio/Video Systems

  • $1.00

    Desktop Computers

  • $0.60

    Portable Computers

  • $0.55

    Computer and Video Game Peripherals

  • $7.25

    Desktop Printers, Scanners, Fax Machines, Copiers and Multi-Function Devices (MFDs)

  • $0.95

    Personal/Portable Audio/Video Systems

  • $3.75

    Home Theatre in a Box

    Vehicle Audio/Video and Navigation Systems

    Cellular Devices and Pagers
